April J. Lykos, Founder and CEO of ShoptheSymphony.com, LLC, has served as a trustee of the Houston Symphony, Chairman of the 2013 Ima Hogg Competition and buyer for the Houston Symphony Store and continues to advise the Symphony and other performing arts organizations and academic institutions. In these roles, she observed that, unlike museums, many performing arts companies did not have the same branding and marketing opportunities due to the limits of time and circumstance. Because they do not maintain "regular business hours," the opportunity of their audiences and subscribers to support these organizations is severely limited. ShoptheSymphony fills this void by creating a marketplace for beautiful music product and providing profitable turn-key solutions.
While a Wall Street bankruptcy lawyer, a chance encounter with Stanley Marcus in New York changed the course of her career. The ShoptheSymphony experience results from April's expertise acquired as a graduate of the Neiman Marcus Buyer Training Program and her many years as a Buyer, Strategic Planner and Department Manager at Neiman Marcus, Tootsies and the Houston Symphony Store. The Company and its clients are well served by her background in driving the top and bottom line of retail businesses.
